My name is Dongting Li (李东庭). I am currently a PostDoc at the University of California, San Diego, co-advised by Prof. Nick Gravish and Prof. Michael T. Tolley.

I earned my bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2018 from Shandong University, Weihai. I then obtained both my MS and PhD in Systems Engineering from Arizona State University, under the supervision of Dr. Dan M. Aukes, in the sunny Arizona desert.

My research interests span origami-inspired design, laminate-based manufacturing, granular-media locomotion, and lockable structures — and, ultimately, how to integrate all of these into a single functional system.

Outside of my professional life, I have a passion for working out, cooking, hiking, traveling, and photography. I am always on the lookout for the hidden beauty in our world. I am also preparing for half marathon and sprint triathlon race. Hope to get good results!
